It was a nice reminder of Warcraft's RTS roots, and also a handy distraction from Blizzard's ongoing PR nightmare. The remaster of 2002's Warcraft 3 was announced back in 2018, but it went radio silent until this year's BlizzCon with a multiplayer beta featuring a slimmed-down competitive mode. It's where I found Dota, tower defenses, and so many other games I still enjoy to this day, and I hope this new tool becomes more fertile ground for mod-makers around the world. And, in news crucially relevant to my interests, Warcraft 3: Reforged will include a new World Editor with "hundreds of new triggers, LUA scripting support, new tools for importing models, and more enhancements planned for the future." I have very fond memories of the Warcraft 3 campaigns and spent some time in the regular multiplayer, but my heart lies in the weird, bizarre, slapdash machinations that filled up the Custom Game queue.
